Whay you should never subscribe Digiturk!

Today I learned a “unpaid-fee” of an amount of about 20 Turkish Liras (~11 US Dollars) may cause a lot of trouble if you were once a customer of Digiturk. They claim I forgot to pay my last fee before I cancelled my subscription, and honestly I believe them. Having a more than one different service subscriptions and cancelling some of them during time may bring forgotten/un-paid fees or invoices which are all handled nicely after a call or a message warning you about the issue. The trouble part is not related to this, it actually relates to how Digiturk handles this kind of situations:

After my subscription was ended in December, 2007; their customer support or sales departmend (or whatever they like to call) called me via phone. During the long 5 year period, they never contacted me about an un-paid fee, no calls, no messages, nothing. Until the issue has reached their representative law firm; I got informed: suprize! “Pay 81 Turkish Liras or we start necessary action on court..” Hold on a second, what, for this amount, why you did not inform me before, did you wait for amount to be come 4 times the original, do you really care your customers,…? Questions like these are all un-answered and do not seem to be get answered by them. At least now I know very well how much do they truly value their customers.

It does not matter, you may face it any time so be prepared and expect this kind of suprise from Digiturk. At least if you’re not a lawyer or have enough time and energy to handle to this kind of sonsense on your own.

Why this post all in English, you may ask. The answer is simple, make it appear this page on search engines in English which they do not expect to see and hopefully bring more attention. This is a difference I can make know. And of course all my friends and relatives will listen the whole story from me; with a very big warning about this company.

As a side note, interestingly there is no “non-profit organization”  in Turkey where consumers share their experiences and also file complaints while that organization assess companies and give ratings judging their service to customers, like the most notable one Better Business Bureau.

Well done Digiturk!
